Coaptite urethral injection Coaptite urethral injection (formally known as a collagen injection): typically a 5 minute procedure performed under local anesthesia or sedation with no post operative restrictions other than anesthesia affects. A needle is used at the urethral level to inject a calcium based temporary bulking agent. Retention, infection, small amount of bleeding may occur but is temporary and typically mild. The success rate ranges from 60-70% and some patients may require a small amount more. The effects may last up to 1 year before repeat injection would be indicated. Also a good option for high surgical risks patients or women with SUI interested in still reproducing. |
